Another Update

Mask Mandate -  gone for a little while now.

Vaccinations - Available to believers. I'm afraid of them. Not enough time in the trials. No thanks.

Work - 100% back in the office for over a month now.

Venues - Open to live musical performances (WOOOHOOO!!!) and jams (another WOOOHOOO!!!).

Life Overall - On the upswing, I'd say.

Y'all enjoy whatever you choose to do for Independence Day...just be careful and have fun!!!

Life Updates

In no particular order, since the last post, two years ago...
- New Job! I'm a Training Specialist LED (Louisiana Economic Development) FastStart - we are an economic incentive provider to businesses in Louisiana.
- Roscoe, Lee, and Abadie mutated into Reaux, Roscoe, and Abadie. Charles Lee retired from our 19th Century Musical Troupe, and Cooky Reaux (an original founding member) returned to fill the gap. Bob Roscoe and I are still in the band. This all took place in the last half of 2019, so we only had a few opportunities to perform before the COVID 19 Pandemic changed...well...just about every aspect of life. We had 4 gigs cancel because of the Stay at Home order. This is a financial burden, and I'm hoping the venues we play will soon be able to re-open and host events in which we can participate.
- Nicole and I play a lot of pool now. We joined APA (American Poolplayers Association), and we are co-captains of a double-jeopardy team (both 8 ball and 9 ball)  called Cueball Screwballs.  We play on Sunday afternoon. We both play on some other teams, as well. Our team's home is Clicks Billiards in Baton Rouge.
- Nicole is working as a bartender/server at Clicks Billiards. She got the job about two weeks before the Stay at Home order, so she was out of work from mid-March until about two weeks ago.
- Despite The Rona, life is good. I've been able to attend a few small jams here and there, and the music is like salve on a wound.

Wow...looks like I haven't posted in 6 years. I guess I'm not much of a blogger! I'll see if I can improve. The last couple of years have been largely consumed with re-building our house after the great flood of August 2016, here in Baton Rouge. Our house now is 99.9% complete. There's a little painting left to do, and I want to spruce up the interior of my storage room. We have 4 granddaughters, now. 3 live in New York, 1 lives here. Overall, life is good. I'm still playing with the Bayou Bluegrass Band and with Roscoe, Lee, and Abadie.

Really Big Shoe

Wow, it's been a year and a half since I've posted here. LOTS has happened, and I can't recap it all now, but life is good. Here's the "Really Big Shoe" stuff:
Saturday, March 7, 2009, BOTH of my bands, will be playing (along with 2 other bands) at the Old South Jamboree in Walker, LA. This venue has been around form decades, and they have traditionally done Country and Gospel shows. Our show will be all bluegrass, and if it goes well, it may turn into a regular gig.

The line up: Tuning South, Sweet Tea Bluegrass, Bayou Bluegrass (I play banjo and sing mostly backups), The Darold Dixey Band (I play banjo and sing mostly leads).

I'm pretty sure the show starts at 7 pm, but I'll be getting more details, soon.

Bluegrass and Beer

Well, Thursday night (June 28), I got to have a real one night reunion with the One Night Band. All 5 of us got together and had a blast playing at Brew Ha-Ha Coffee Shop. We even made $6 each in tips! $30 tips for 2 hours in a coffee shop isn't bad at all!

Today, I brewed my AHS Kolsch. Here's a picture of the hot break
during brewing.

My Space

I didn't want to get on My Space, but so many people wanted me to see things on their pages that you have to be a member to see, I finally gave in. I set up a page for me and Nicole. She also has a separate one she's set up, mainly for Mary Kay purposes.
Here's the url for our together page http://www.myspace.com/v_and_n
Enjoy!
