Newest Hobby - Home Brewing!!!

My brother got me started brewing beer. Since Mark (a CA friend, not my brother...my brother smokes pipes, too!) said I needed to back off on my pipe postings, here's a post on my first batch of brew. I bought a basic 2-bucket kit and an American Pale Ale extract kit from Listermann's. I brewed yesterday, Oct. 22, 2006. The beer will be ready for drinking after fermenting and bottle conditioning (where carbonation occurs). So I'm looking at about 5 weeks. Here are some pictures of the initial grain simmering, the boiling after addition of 2 differnt extract syrups and a couple of different hops additions, and the moment after pitching the yeast, just before capping the fermenting bucket and installing the fermentation lock. Now...I wait.
